JSF Performance: The Achilles' heel?

Sujoe Bose (Sabre Inc)
Recent efforts to benchmark JSF performance and comparing it with other frameworks such as Struts1, Struts2 and Spring MVC, has managed to set the stage for reconsidering JSF as a potential candidate for prime time in certain cases. JSF being a specification driven framework for web application development boasts numerous implementations with relative ease in migrating between them. While some implementations exhibit good runtime characteristics, others are focussed more on providing a richer set of components and widgets for enhanced user experience. This session takes the benchmark effort further by including some popular JSF implementations in the performance comparison. Moreover, some variations in the JSF framework usage are also considered to enhance throughput while balancing resource consumption.
