Demystifying JavaServer Faces Part I

In this session you will learn all you need to know to be productive with JSF. The session is presented by Ed Burns, who had a leadership role in JSF from its inception, and currently co-leads the Java Expert Group developing version 2.0 of the specification. In part one you will learn how JSF differs from other web frameworks, notably Struts. We will introduce the four pillars of JSF: Views, Model Interaction, Navigation, and Lifecycle. We will take you through building a sample application using existing off-the-shelf components. In part two, you will learn how to extend JSF with custom UI Components, and other JSF extension elements. We will cover how to use Ajax with JSF and expand the sample application to demonstrate the concepts introduced.
